How We’re Protecting Patients

As health care workers we already know about the dangers of mandatory overtime, but most of the public, and lawmakers, in particular, do not.

It’s time for caregivers to take a stand on the dangerous practice of mandatory overtime. The Campaign for Patient Safety is a grassroots coalition of nurses and other caregivers committed to working with the Pennsylvania Legislature to pass legislation that would ban mandatory overtime for all health care workers except in the case of an emergency.

It is our goal to expose the abuse of mandatory overtime in health care facilities and to educate the public about the dangers of mandatory overtime in order to pass legislation that will protect patients, improve working conditions and put the CARE back in patient care.

One of the ways we’re working to make our voices heard is by collecting stories from caregivers about mandatory overtime. Tell us your story so that we can fill the desks of Pennsylvania legislators with real stories from the frontlines of health care.

We’re also taking legislative action. Legislation to ban the dangerous practice of mandatory overtime has been introduced in the Pennsylvania House and Senate.
